Computer Images of the 2008 Beijing Olympic Stadium

Came across a page in which digital images (at least some of them not original photos) of the Beijing Olympic Stadium were given. Looked great.

Am not sure if the pictures represent the infrastructure that is really available or will be available, but the stadium / stadia look stunning and creative.

Worth having a look at - here

Since opening to the public in 2003, it has grown explosively and today is inhabited by a total of 4,854,822 people from around the globe. Review John Chow dot Com and Get Traffic

Review John Chow dot Com and Get Traffic

John Cow dot Com is a blog that has in it a cool concept. On the one hand, the blog provides useful resources for folks to get more traffic to their blogs, and hence more money.

But what is really interesting is the way in which the blog has been able to attract visitors. It uses a unique link-bait (link-bait is a term used for ideas that can get your blog lots of links). To paraphrase in the author's own words: "John Chow dot Com is a blog that helps you make money online. He is offering to link to your blog if you review his blog."

One needs to see how the blog evolves this concept further; in a way, it is a unique way of link-exchange...I'll be surprised if a lot of clones do not appear in the very near future.

But let not the unique link-bait concept distract you from the equally interesting resources provided at the blog. Most blog posts will be useful to folks who are in the business of running blogs...

Btw, needless to say, I am hoping Syn.in gets some useful traffic from John Cow dot Com!

HIV's (AIDS Virus) Ways of Escaping the Immune System Examined

HIV's Ways of Escaping the Immune System Examined

March 15 (source: HealthDay News) -- Researchers report that they've found more evidence of how the AIDS virus (HIV) escapes the immune system.

While the findings could help in the development of an HIV vaccine, the findings suggest that it will be far from simple to figure out how the virus will react in specific people.

The findings suggest that the responses of the HIV viruses to human immune system efforts might be different in different people, depending on both the immune system as well as the genetics of the person. This suggests that a successful HIV vaccine would have to cover a wide number of "escape routes" that the virus might take in the body.

Is Moguling the Next "Big Thing” on the Internet?

Is Moguling the Next "Big Thing” on the Internet?

Press release, Phoenix, AZ, March 16, 2007

A new Internet Opportunity which is being dubbed ‘Moguling’ just might be the very thing that forces Google to reevaluate its business model, says this PR. Meet Moguling.

What is the idea behind moguling?

Blogs tend to get ranked very quickly by Google, and hence rise in the Google results dramatically. Moguling centers on creating a Web site and running a blog from it. The blog is promoted in a number of ways, and because search engines seem to prefer blogs, the domain is quickly and favorably ranked and in a relatively short time the site and URL (domain name) spikes in value. This can perhaps then be sold to an investor, at least that is the idea.

Vocation Vacations - Experience a Different Life

Vocation Vacations - Experience a Different Life

Read about this interesting business concept Vocation Vacations at the Unusual Business Ideas that Work blog post

The idea is simple. Most of us have a rather "narrow" view of professional (and to a degree personal) life, mostly based on the profession we are in and our circumstances. What if we are able to live a different kind of life, meaning lead a different career for a while?

This is what Vocation Vacations helps you to do.

Participants pay anywhere from a few hundred dollars to a few thousand (transportation, lodging, etc., aren't included) to experience life as, say, a chocolatier, a fashion designer, or a race-car driver. The time spent immersed in their fantasy job allows them to get a 360-degree perspective without the risk of quitting their own jobs or investing heavily in a new career.

A Toothbrush with Lights - and 25 million $

A Toothbrush with Lights - and 25 million $

Came across this interesting business idea - the Fire Fly toothbrush - at the Unusual Business Ideas that Work blog.

Puneet Nanda, like any other parent had a tough time getting his kid to brush teeth. So he came up with an idea - He added lights to the toothbrush and added a timer to boot, so the light would blink for exactly a minute. Thus was born the Fire Fly toothbrush.

The brightly colored Fire Fly -- the newest version sports a see-through handle showing off a tiny toy and a bunch of floating glitter -- is making a name for Dr. Fresh, Nanda's Buena Park (Calif.) company and his medical school nickname. In 2004, Nanda got the original Fire Fly into Target, and by 2005 it was bringing in 20% of the 50-employee company's $25 million revenues.

Uncommon Business Blog - Unusual Business Ideas That Work

Unusual Business Ideas That Work

An interesting blog on unusual business ideas and opportunities.

I'd rather let the blog author say something about the blog, I certainly don't know how to put it better: "Uncommon Business is a blog about people who make money online selling unusual, strange and sometimes bizarre things or provide curious services. This isn’t “One Hundred And One Ideas For Your Homebased Business” – only real, working businesses with URLs provided, so you can do further investigation on your own. And if you do own an unusual web business, make sure you submit your story to us..."

Am not sure if this will really help improve customer service and relationship, but everyone going web 2.0, it is time for customer service too to do that!

Write a Mirror Message for Yourself

Here is a cool idea from Curt Rosengren - a mirror message. A what? A mirror message...

In Curt's words: "Here's a quick idea to help reinforce a message you want to focus on. Write yourself a mirror message. Next time you fog up the bathroom mirror with a shower, write the message you want to remember on it. And then don't clean it. The next time the mirror steams up, that message will still be there. Since often mirror fog and a morning shower go hand in hand, it can be a great way to set the tone for your day."

Sounds creative, doesn't it? Perhaps I should try it out a couple of times to check if it is also useful!

Kompoz, a New Collaboration Workspace for Musicians

Kompoz, a New Collaboration Workspace for Musicians

Read about an interesting concept/site called Kompoz that enables collaboration among musicians on music / song projects. Here's how it works according to the blog post at Garage Spin

"At Kompoz, the social network revolves around song projects.

Basically, anyone can start a new "song project", choosing project attributes such as song key, beats per minute, and an appropriate Creative Commons license. Kompoz members can then add parts to the betterment (or detriment) of the project, and the whole work in progress is both streamable and downloadable by everyone, both as a whole or in parts."

If you are musician, you wouldn't want to miss checking this out. Read more from this blog post . The Kompoz web site home page

The Diversion Safe - Creative Ideas to Hide your Stuff

The Diversion Safe - Creative Ideas to Hide your Stuff

Thieves are getting smarter all the time, and so we do need to be creative as well in how we hide things away from them, don't we?

The Product Dose site provides some interesting ideas: They say -

"he simple science behind the diversion safe follows the logic that thieves are looking for actual safes and sock drawers -- the places where valuables are most often kept -- when breaking into a home; they never think to look in the refrigerator or kitchen cupboards. Sure, you can go the traditional route and hide your valuables in an Ajax container or a can of Pabst. But we've pulled together a list of unconventional and forward-thinking diversion safes that expand the possibilities."

See what ideas they have pulled together from this interesting article from Product Dose

Rentometer - Compare Rent in your Locality

Rentometer - cool concept

The author of the Qube Exchange blog has this to say about a concept called Rentometer:

"I just ran across a new site that allows you to compare your apartment rent to others in the surrounding area. Rentometer is cool concept and something that can ultimately be very useful for all of us apartment hunters and landlords when it is developed a bit more….but its current state has data issues."

Sounds like a promising idea, read more about it from the Qube Exchange blog post

Divvio - The Uber Discovery Engine?

Divvio - The Uber Discovery Engine?

Business Week article, Peter Burrows

Divvio hopes to be the uber-discovery engine of all Web Media—from music to silly YouTube stuff to professional TV and Hollywood fare. They want to blast through arbitrary media-based boundaries on the Web today (iTunes for music, YouTube for video, Google to search etc), and pull all of them together in a new delivery mode that feels more like today’s familiar broadcast methods (TV channels, radio stations) than clicking around the Web, says this BusinessWeek article about Divvio

A Cool idea - Viral Blog List

A Cool idea - Viral Blog List

Read a brief idea on how bloggers belonging to connected groups can build a viral blog list.

Here's how it works, in the author's words -
"I post my list of bike blogs that I like and read and then you cut and paste the list onto your blog and add the sites that you like and read. Then anybody who reads the list does the same and a great viral meme is born, creating lots of exposure to the blogs on the lists and giving people a new set of blogs to read that they might not have known anything about."

Looks like a good idea that is useful to readers and blog owners alike

Ficlets, Collaborative Fiction

Ficlets, Collaborative Fiction

Came across a cool site called Ficlets

I'd leave it to the site itself to explain what it does:

"A ficlet is a short story that enables you to collaborate with the world.

Once you’ve written and shared your ficlet, any other user can pick up the narrative thread by adding a prequel or sequel. In this manner, you may know where the story begins, but you’ll never guess where (or even if!) it ends."

Interesting, isn't it? Perhaps I can try my hand at it too...

A Novel Approach to Distribution and the Public Domain

A Novel Approach to Distribution and the Public Domain

Mar 14, 2007 via the Springer Board Media blog

Jonathan Lethem, the popular author of "You Don't Love Me Yet," and "The Fortress of Solitude" has hit upon a novel way to sell rights to his book. He plans to give it away with no option fee, but with the stipulation that he eventually be paid 2% of the budget (once the film gets a distribution deal); and that after 5 years of exploitation, the ancillary rights enter the public domain.
